Flood Them With Love

Flood them with Love is a local, grassroots group whose mission is to provide immediate help to flood survivors. We began by helping five families on Christmas, bringing them cash, gift cards and furniture. To date we have raised and distributed over $18,000 in cash and gift cards and delivered truckloads of furniture and household items and helped with medical and legal issues. Family histories and additional information are available upon request. Families are carefully screened and selected through referral only. Please join us today with your contributions of money, household items, expertise and time. Cash and gift cards (no checks) may be dropped off at the church office. Questions? Call Karla Goettel at 366-4217.

Update on Flood Them with Love...
Flood Them with Love is exploding with lots of new families and new partnerships.  We now have 73 families, over 200 people in all that we are helping.  We have raised and distributed over $50,000.  In just the past few weeks we have begun a wonderful new partnership with Horizons that allows us to take staff with us into the flood homes and offer credit counseling, food assistance and family support in addition to building materials, furniture, household items and all the other services we offered previously.
This would not be possible without many angels helping us and 1st Presbyterian Church has been a major angel!  I want to thank the church for helping us in an emergency situation with a contractor bill for an elderly couple and for the wonderful idea of sharing the Farmers' Market bake sale money with our organization.
We have over 20 families on a waiting list, simply because there isn't enough TIME and MONEY to help all those who desperately need it.  We have discovered the tenants, or should I say, they have found us.  These are  the people who were renting at the time of the flood.  Even though many lost everything and had to move, they received minimal financial help. We are finding a whole new level of poverty and suffering.  Please continue to support us with your donations of time, household items and money as we continue to grow to meet the needs in our community.  Watch for a major distribution of beds (BUCKS FOR BEDS) in conjunction with Bills' Bros. Furniture and Restonic Mattress Co.  THANK YOU, dear friends!
