How We Worship*

In the year 2000, FPC completed a lengthy study on Worship at First Presbyterian Church. After much soul-searching and prayer, our church celebrated the following:

We live a dynamic faith:
As we engage modern culture, we affirm the living, changing nature of Christian faith and practice. Guided by Scripture, tradition, and the Spirit, we encourage open-ended questioning and spiritual searching as we worship, proclaim and serve God in the world.

We affirm traditional worship: Though many churches are supplanting traditional with contemporary forms and styles of worship, we have made an intentional commitment to celebrate the richness of the theological, liturgical, and musical traditions of our heritage, while pulling carefully selected elements from the contemporary.

We walk in Jesus' footsteps: Jesus worshiped, fed the hungry, taught, offered hospitality. We value these same efforts equally. Through worship, outreach, Christian education, and fellowship, we walk in Jesus' footsteps, as individuals and as a congregation.
