Linn Community Food Bank

Hours: 2:00—3:30 p.m. Monday—Friday

The Linn Community Food Bank is housed in the lower level of First Presbyterian Church (and has been since 1971), As of 2003, the Food Bank incorporated, and was granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, tax-deductible status.  It is no longer under the umbrella of Churches United.

In 2002, the Linn Community Food Bank marked its 30th anniversary. Through the years, the food bank has provided short-term help to 155,000 individuals. Currently, up to 20 households per day, Monday through Friday, are given a several days worth of groceries.

Hours of operation are 2:00-3:30, Monday through Friday. Clients come by referral from Harambee House.

The Food Bank could not operate without its volunteers. Over 80 people from 69 area churches and members of the community give their time to stock shelves, dispense food, purchase supplies, organize food drives, and recruit more volunteers. Contributions of food come from 65 businesses and organizations, and over 200 individuals. Help of any kind—food, money, time—is always welcome.

The Food Bank is proud of its long-term association with First Presbyterian Church, and looks forward to many more years of serving the hungry together.
